Winner of Holiday Lighting Installation by Christmas Decor by ArvidsonDennis Marunde, President and Owner of Christmas Decor by Arvidson, drew the name of Ms. Jamie Donovan of McHenry, Illinois, as the winner of a FREE Holiday Lighting Installation Package from Christmas Decor by Arvidson.  Her home will be decorated in the next few days by a crew of Christmas Decor elves.  “I’m really happy that we won,” said Ms. Donovan when contacted with the news on Monday.

Christmas Decor by Arvidson ran a food drive throughout the month of November and generated about 100 pounds of food to be provided to the Northern Illinois Food Bank.

Northern Illinois Food Bank is the source of nutritious food, innovative feeding programs, and hope for more than 71,000 people each week. As a nonprofit organization with a goal of solving hunger in our 13-county service area, we rely on community partners – the local food pantries and feeding programs, food manufacturers and retailers, companies, foundations and individuals who join with us in our vision for no one to be hungry in northern Illinois. A new study by Northern Illinois Food Bank and Feeding America shows that nearly 600,000 people in northern Illinois turn to food pantries and meal programs to feed themselves and their families. The Hunger in America 2014 study is Feeding America’s sixth extensive study of hunger. As a member of the Feeding America network, Northern Illinois Food Bank participates in this study to better understand the needs of our hungry neighbors. Completed every four years, the study surveys the food pantries and feeding programs in the Northern Illinois Food Bank network and the people who seek food assistance from them. These hungry neighbors use our food pantries and feeding programs on average eight times per year.

In addition to food donations, customers also donated several new, unused toys for the Marine Corps. Toys for Tots program. The objectives of Toys for Tots are to help less fortunate children throughout Illinois experience the joy of Christmas; to play an active role in the development of one of our nation’s most valuable resources – our children; to unite all members of local communities in a common cause for three months each year during the annual toy collection and distribution campaign; and to contribute to better communities in the future.
